The continuing education (CE) cycle for North Dakota licensees is 9 hours annually. Licensees must complete 9 hours of CE prior to renewing their licenses (no later than November 15th of each year). There is NOT a grace period for completing your education. If you do not have the required number of hours for an active license you need to renew to the inactive status until you have completed the required education.
Keep in mind that the continuing education hours you use to activate an inactive license cannot be used to meet the 9 hours of continuing education required annually.
The mandatory course topic for the current CE cycle (November 16, 2018 through November 15, 2019) is 3 hours total on safety and cybersecurity.
The mandatory course topic for the upcoming CE cycle which begins November 16, 2019 and runs through November 15, 2020 is 3 hours on risk management. Courses on risk management taken before November 16, 2019 will not meet the mandatory course requirement for the CE cycle beginning November 16, 2019.
